The Hunter Story
It all started back in 1886. In those days, people were lucky to have electricity at all, let alone the air conditioning we take for granted today. They needed a solution. That’s where the innovations of John and James Hunter came in. Technological pioneers of their time, this father-and-son team built the first water-driven ceiling fan in upstate New York.
Little did the Hunters know their small manufacturing business would grow into a world-renowned brand that would set the industry standard for quality, beauty, and precision craftsmanship. Soon Hunter was shipping these rugged fans with hand-weighted and balanced blades all across the country as well as by the boatload to India, the Far East, and Africa. And just 17 years after its modest origin, the Hunter ceiling fan became one of the first products to run on electricity.
The Hunter story is still going strong. Ever faithful to our heritage, we combine 19th century tradition with 21st century innovation to create fans of peerless quality, style, and whisper-quiet performance. Fans as tough on the inside as they are beautiful on the outside. Fans that John and James Hunter would still be proud to call their own more than 120 years later.
